The energy company Iberdrola México held its first Innovation Week from April 18 to 21 with four open lectures for the staff to value the importance of an innovation culture that allows continuous improvement.

Located in the City of Ensenada, Baja California, the “Baja California III” combined cycle power plant of Iberdrola México has been commercially operating for five years, during which time it has positioned itself as a benchmark in the energy industry thanks to its operation, which generates enough energy for 700,000 people, covering part of the demand for electricity of this northern state of Mexico, while at the same time taking care of the environment by monitoring its CO2 emissions.

In 2022, the broad range of volunteer actions carried out by Iberdrola People in Mexico provided benefits for many people. Keeping the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in focus to guide our social and environmental actions at all times, we performed 124 activities in the different states we operate in, with the participation of 3,285 people, including company personnel as well as their relatives and members of partner institutions.

During the first week of October, Iberdrola México took part in International Volunteer Day 2022 held by the Iberdrola Group worldwide. The group's employees participated in activities focused on environmental protection, as well as raising awareness of diversity and inclusion issues.

In 2022, the combined cycle power plant La Laguna II celebrates 17 years providing energy for 70% of the Laguna Region. Located in the municipality of Gómez Palacio, in the state of Durango, it is an example of responsible and efficient operation as well as every one of the 13 Iberdrola México’s power plants in the country.

At the company, we know the importance of energy for the country and the world: it is society’s engine. Therefore, through innovation we endeavor to offer alternatives that will allow us to reduce environmental impact and ensure a more sustainable and efficient operation.

We have recently celebrated the World Energy Day, a day full of love and positive energy because it was the ideal stage to remind us that we have a daily commitment to take care of the planet. Seventy-three years ago, this day was established to promote the responsible and efficient use of energy resources.

Iberdrola México, in partnership with the Confederation of Industrial Chambers (CONCAMIN), donated 2,000 food packages to contribute to relieve the emergency faced by families in Veracruz damaged by Hurricane Grace.

Iberdrola México delivered to the Government of Oaxaca the first three schools included in the Construir para Educar (Build to Educate) program, aimed at supporting education in the state through the reconstruction of 50 schools in the Tehuantepec Isthmus that were damaged by the 2017 earthquakes, with an investment of 125 million pesos, which will have solar panels for a sustainable power supply.

We are excited to introduce the second generation of the Impulso STEM (STEM Boost). At Iberdrola México we are sure that quality education is crucial to build a better future. We trust that the young people that are now benefiting from this scholarship will become a benchmark in their communities and their state.
