Bogotá, November 26, 2021.- Iberdrola México was honored for the second time with the Ibero-American Quality Award, an international distinction granted by the Ibero-American General Secretariat (SEGIB) and the Ibero-American Foundation for Quality Management (FUNDIBEQ) to companies with excellence in corporate efficiency, innovation and sustainability.

Furthermore, two company’s projects – (Lights of Hope) and the Pandemic Mitigation and Safe Back to Work Plan – were recognized as the Best Practices in relation to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

“For everybody in Iberdrola México, receiving again this international recognition is a real honor and proves our human team’s commitment and quality, while our strategy turns us into an increasingly innovative, competitive, efficient and sustainable company,” said Enrique Alba, CEO of Iberdrola México, the only Mexican company to receive an award in this edition.

“In addition, we will continue to strive to keep developing social programs that will positively impact the most vulnerable people based on sound ethics and values, because for us the social dividend is an integral part of our company,” he added.

The awards were delivered to Homero Ramírez, who is responsible for Safety, Quality and Environment at Iberdrola México, during a ceremony headed by the president of Colombia, Iván Duque, which was also attended by representatives of award-winning organizations in the public and private sectors.

Organizations taking part in this award must have previously received the National Award in their countries or an international distinction. In 2018, Iberdrola México became the first private company in the electric industry to receive the National Quality Award and a year later it won the Ibero-American Quality Award for the first time.

One of Iberdrola México’s initiatives that is recognized as the Best Practice in relation to SDGs was Luces de Esperanza (Lights of Hope) aimed at bringing electricity to rural communities lacking access to this basic utility in San Luis Potosí and Oaxaca, by installing autonomous solar systems at homes, schools, health centers and community spaces, so as to trigger their development through the improvement of education, health and safety.

Meanwhile, the Pandemic Mitigation and Safe Back to Work Plan was implemented to respond to the COVID-19 health emergency and allowed to ensure electrical supply to the company’s customers always prioritizing its employees’ health and wellbeing.

In addition, this pandemic combat plan included the donation of two million units of health supplies, as well as 15 thousand food and hygiene products packages to communities and public entities in 20 states in the country.

At Iberdrola México, quality is in the excellence in managing all its processes and resources, which is a lever for the creation of value for society, shareholders, customers and employees. Also, it is one of the core values behind its strategic plan and a source of inspiration for the development of all the company’s activities.
