- The scholarships are for academic course 2022-2026 programs at the Universidad de los Valles Centrales de Oaxaca (University of the Central Valleys of Oaxaca).

Oaxaca, March 9, 2022.- Iberdrola México opened the third call for scholarships for young people interested in studying engineering at the Technological University of the Central Valleys of Oaxaca (UTVCO), as part of the Impulso STEM (STEM Boost) project carried out jointly with this university and the UNAM’s Renewable Energies Institute (IER).
The announcement was made during the fourth Impulso STEM forum that gathered middle higher education students in Oaxaca interested in any science, technology, engineering, and mathematics program (STEM).
The deadline for receiving documents to take part in the selection process will be May 31 on the website www.impulsostem.com. The list of students winning one of the 23 scholarships will be published on next July 29.
“Promoting the training of Mexican youngsters in STEM programs is key to the growth of the country’s south and southeast regions”, said Enrique Alba, CEO of Iberdrola México, who stressed the importance of the private sector joining efforts with academic institutions and governments to boost the opportunities and development of Mexicans, mainly women.
The UTVCO rector, Nydia Delhi Mata Sánchez, explained that this collaborative work allows to narrow the gender gap by helping more young people have access to an excellent higher education with a comprehensive training program, aimed at empowering student talent as well as strengthening projects and actions leading to the promotion of personal and professional development.
These scholarships add to the 37 already delivered in 2020 and 2021, for young people interested in pursuing Sustainable and Protected Agriculture, Information Technologies, Renewable Energy, Mechatronics, and Textile Design and Fashion programs to complete the curriculum.
The professional training period will be from September 2022 to April 2026. The scholarship will cover the enrollment fee, as well as a quarterly economic endowment to meet school, transportation, subsistence and accommodation expenses, in accordance with the duration of the curriculum of each program.
