Iberdrola México benefits families in Oaxaca with educational workshops

  • This program has benefited over 800 students, teachers and parents in various regions across Mexico.
  • Workshops will deal with topics such as science, environment and personal growth to improve students’ cognitive skills and strengthen the community’s social fabric.
  • The educational project has been implemented in the states of Tamaulipas, San Luis Potosí, and Durango.

The Iberdrola México Foundation announced last Wednesday the startup of an educational project that will benefit more than 470 students, teachers and parents at the Istmo de Tehuantepec region in the state of Oaxaca, where the company operates four wind farms.

Together with the Instituto Mexicano para la Excelencia Educativa, A.C., Iberdrola will promote this program consisting in providing workshops dealing with science, environment and personal growth for the whole education community.

Benefited students, parents and teachers will also gain knowledge and tools including reading comprehension, mathematical thinking development, creativity, research, protection of biodiversity, self-esteem reinforcement and family project planning.
This educational program has already benefited more than 800 people at schools in the states of Tamaulipas, Durango, and San Luis Potosí.

The educational project of the Iberdrola México Foundation in Oaxaca will begin in the elementary school “Escuela Matutina Primaria Progreso”, located in the municipality of Santo Domingo Ingenio, and will initially benefit 50 teachers, 150 parents, and 272 students, aimed at improving their cognitive skills and strengthen the community social fabric.

“For Iberdrola México, synergy with public institutions and the society is very important for community development and growth. With this project, we will help strengthen the social fabric to ensure a better future for children in the region”, said Álvaro Velázquez, Management and Development Coordinator at Iberdrola Renewables Mexico.

This initiative is part of the Cooperation and Solidarity pillar of Iberdrola México Foundation, aimed at supporting Mexican communities with projects that will contribute to their development.
