Tamazunchale, S.L.P, August 5, 2022.- Iberdrola México and the Club Deportivo Dinastía de Sultanes de Tamazunchale announced a collaboration agreement designed to skyrocket the football team, drive an active and healthy lifestyle between the population and encourage women’s inclusion in sports.
“We are very proud at Iberdrola México to begin this alliance with Los Sultanes de Tamazunchale – a sports hallmark in the region”, said Manuel Argüelles, manager of the combined cycle power plant in Tamazunchale before hundreds of fans of this club that currently plays in the third division.
“We look to promote sports, inspire the population to adopt healthy habits and encourage women to overcome obstacles through this collaboration”, Argüelles explained in an event held at the Sports Unit in Tamazunchale.
The club’s treasurer, Francisco Feliu, stressed that this partnership is supported by the Government of San Luis Potosí and the municipality’s authorities, and “provides the team with the energy required for a season full of success”.
“Collaboration, however, goes beyond winning matches. We will also carry out several sports activities in the Tamazunchale’s communities”, he added during the presentation event of the season’s men’s and women’s teams, as well as the new uniforms.
The agreement – executed for a three-year period – provides for the organization of football clinics for the little ones, talks about nutrition, local tournaments for children and youngsters, as well as training of high-school students as sports ambassadors and expanding the benefits.
“Our town has always been proud of Los Sultanes. And I am convinced that with this alliance we will not only win matches, but we will also succeed in driving a healthier and more active lifestyle for all the people in Tamazunchale”, said the municipal president of Tamazunchale, José Luis Meza Vidales.
WOMEN ON THE BALL
The purpose of the agreement is to tear down barriers still existing in the sports world for women. Bearing this in mind, Las Sultanas, the club’s women’s football team, which currently includes three categories, will be supported.
Furthermore, the agreement comprises activities to strengthen the Women’s Football Municipal League of Tamazunchale, as well as sports programs in the region so that more girls and women are empowered everyday both within and without the field.
“The social approach if this alliance opens up a world of opportunities. I am very happy to work together with Los Sultanes and Iberdrola México so that every day more women will use football as a tool to break paradigms”, said Diana Paola Jonguitud, a sports benchmark in the region and a women’s football promoter.
This agreement, aligned with Iberdrola México’s commitment to contribute to a more inclusive and equalitarian society also provides for the participation of the club’s men’s and women’s players in the volunteering activities and social programs carried out by the company in the region.
