At Iberdrola México we seek better professional opportunities for today’s students by boosting social actions and educational programs.
According to the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), in the coming years, 3.5 million new jobs related to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) programs will be offered, and it is there where we want to put our efforts in order for more girls and young women to consider these disciplines, since only 8 out of 100 women follow a STEM related program.
That is how Impulso STEM (STEM Boost) emerged, a program aimed at inspiring and motivating students, mainly women in Oaxaca, to follow a STEM program. Until now, we have delivered 37 scholarships, thanks to the work we have carried out jointly with educational institutions like the Universidad Tecnológica de los Valles Centrales de Oaxaca (the Technological University of the Central Valleys of Oaxaca) (UTVCO), STEM for kids and the UNAM Renewable Energies Institute (IER).
In this year 2022, a new call is opened for a third generation of scholarship students to join the UTVCO and start their professional training in the following programs: Sustainable and Protected Agriculture (ASP), Information Technologies (TI), Renewable Energies (ER), Mechatronics (ME), and Textile Design and Fashion (DTM).
