Volunteer Day 2017

More than 300 Iberdrola Mexico employees participated in our 2017 Volunteer Day

Our 2017 Volunteer Day was a special day for Iberdrola Mexico, since it was the first time staff from the La Laguna (in Coahuila State), Dulces Nombres, Monterrey and Ramos (in Nuevo León State) and the Altamira region (in Tamaulipas State) plants participated in this event.

More than 330 employees participated with their families in a variety of activities, including reforestation, farm construction, painting in public areas and public lighting installation and repair activities, benefiting more than 2,000 people.

The company greatly appreciated the energy and effort contributed by each and every one of the volunteers and their families. Volunteer Day is only as big as the people who participate in it, who put on the Iberdrola team shirt and share the Group’s commitment to improving quality of life for the communities where we conduct our operations.

Here is how Iberdrola Mexico’s Volunteer Day looked:

Mexico State

Sustainable Eco-tech

  • The Activity: Volunteers worked with the Piedra Grande community on three sustainable echo-tech projects, two Patsari-type efficient wood stoves, two organic farms and a fruit tree orchard.

  • Our Partner: Education and Sustainable Development Promotion Group (its spanish acronym GRUPEDSAC)

Tamaulipas

Reforesting your Community

  • The Activity: Our volunteers participated in the Altamira Department of Family Services’ reforestation campaign.

  • Our Partner: the Department of Family Services Health Centre (DIF Casa de la Salud)

Painting the Niños de Barro Orphanage

  • The Activity: Volunteers painted and applied thermal insulation at the orphanage, in addition to spending time with the children who live there.

  • Our Partner: the Niños de Barro Orphanage

Refurbishing Public Lighting

  • The Activity: Volunteers worked to install solar-powered LED lighting at a school and a DIF Health Centre in Altamira.

  • Our Partner: the Department of Family Services Health Centre

Nuevo León

Support for Migrants

  • The Activity: Volunteers from the Ramos Arizpe plant helped prepare food and sorted clothes and personal hygiene products for migrants moving through the area. They also helped by painting the facility and cleaning the store room.

  • Our Partner: Casa Monarca

Facility Repair and Energy Workshop

  • The Activity: Volunteers from the Dulces Nombres plant helped to paint the facility and pictographic signage. They also gave a workshop on how electricity is produced and how to save energy.

  • Our Partner: La Casa de la Armonía A.C. Orphanage.

Coahuila

Loving Hugs

  • The Activity: With the aim of providing a better home for the children who live in this orphanage, volunteers worked on re-finishing and painting walls, installing a shade screen and maintaining the garden.

  • Our Partner: Casa Hogar Abrázame A.C. Orphanage.
