We are excited to introduce the second generation of the Impulso STEM (STEM Boost). At Iberdrola México we are sure that quality education is crucial to build a better future. We trust that the young people that are now benefiting from this scholarship will become a benchmark in their communities and their state.
Last July 30, we introduced the list of members of the new school cycle of the Universidad Tecnológica de los Valles Centrales de Oaxaca (UTVCO), who will study Renewable Energies, Mechatronics, Information Technology, as well as Sustainable and Protected Agriculture STEM programs, with the potential to create a better cleaner world, with innovative science-based proposals.
All the applications received were subject to a stringent evaluation and a series of interviews that enabled to pick the winners.
We are working on this initiative in coordination with the UTVCO and the Institute of Renewable Energies of the UNAM. We seek to support people in a situation that prevents them from accessing higher education, while driving the integration of young people into the study of engineers and contributing to the Sustainable Development Goal 4. Quality Education, and 5. Gender Equality.
It is worth to mention that we had to adapt to the new normality to award the 20 scholarships this year. We held online events so that the interested parties could clarify their doubts and learn more about the university offer. Besides, we held the Impulso STEM Forum, where the holders of the first edition scholarships shared success stories and we encouraged young people in Oaxaca to participate.
