  • The challenge was to develop feasible projects for sustainable companies in 32 hours, which were evaluated by a panel of experts from the company and the academic institution.

The winning project in this edition of the Energy Business Model Challenge put forward the generation of fuel with mezcal and tequila waste. The team composed of Camila Jaber, Estíbaliz San Román, Sheccid Sánchez, and Ernesto – of engineering in Innovation and development students at the Tecnológico de Monterrey – will receive $100,000 pesos in services of the Business Incubator and will travel to Boston with Iberdrola experts.

The second and third places went to the teams that developed a biofuel made with organic waste business, and a more efficient and safer hybrid transport app, respectively.

Roberto Mariscal, Iberdrola Innovation Manager, expressed the company’s interest in developing young talent with initiatives of this kind, for students to contribute to “produce clean and accessible energy and help in the fight against climate change”.

More than 70 experts from Iberdrola and the business and energy industry attended the event held last February 8 and 9 at the Monterrey Campus of the Tecnológico de Monterrey to mentor students on their projects.
