Iberdrola México will double its investment in medical supplies to support the COVID-19 emergency

  • It will extend to 60 million pesos its initial 30-million-peso aid.
  • The company has already donated more than one million units of medical supplies throughout the country.

Mexico City, May 18, 2020.- Owing to the COVID-19 contingency and the growing need of support in vulnerable areas in the country, Iberdrola México will double to 60 million pesos the investment to buy medical supplies to be donated to the public sector, for the protection of health professionals and the safe care of patients.

Late in April, Iberdrola México announced a 30-million-peso investment to buy medical supplies like surgical masks, N95 respirators, medical overalls, face shields, and ventilators, which have been delivered to various public institutions in 16 Mexican states since then.

“We are a company committed to Mexico and we know that the health sector is in a critical stage because of the increase in COVID-19 cases. That is why we will double our investment to support medical and health staff and patients, joining the Government and the private sector efforts to contain the disease”, Enrique Alba, Iberdrola México CEO, said.

Since the company started to deliver donations one and a half month ago, it has distributed over one million medical supply units and food packages in 16 states in Mexico, including the three states with the largest number of contagions: Mexico City, State of Mexico, and Baja California.

The aid has also arrived in the states of Oaxaca, Puebla, Veracruz, San Luis Potosí, Colima, Durango, Nuevo León, Coahuila, Tlaxcala, Sinaloa, Querétaro, Tamaulipas, and Guanajuato.

In addition to health supplies, the company began a program for the distribution of food packages to vulnerable communities in May. Iberdrola México plans to finish the delivery of nearly 6 thousand food packages in municipalities in the states of San Luis Potosí, Oaxaca, Veracruz, Puebla, Guanajuato, and Mexico City late this month.

Iberdrola México works to make economic and industrial development accompanied by a social dividend come true, and helps people most in need; therefore, the company drives the wellbeing of communities where it has a presence, through the ongoing support to the country’s most vulnerable population.
