  • The electricity company received the Exceptional Practice Award for its Luces de Esperanza Project and the Good Practice Award for 5 Essentials + 1.

Mexico City, February 17, 2023.- Iberdrola México received the Exceptional Practice Award granted by the Entrepreneurial Coordinating Council (CCE), Voz de las Empresas, and the Instituto para el Fomento a la Calidad for its Luces de Esperanza (Lights of Hope) project, which brings electricity to isolated rural communities through solar panels and batteries, and for its 5 Essentials + 1 program, a campaign designed to prevent occupational accidents.

The second edition of Exceptional Companies distinguished outstanding practices with a social dimension, emphasizing solidarity and leadership in companies across five categories: Fostering employee development and quality of life; Accelerating digitalization; Strengthening suppliers; Contributing to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Encouraging transparency.

The energy company won two of them: Exceptional Practices for Luces de Esperanza in the category Contributing to SDGs, and Good Practice for 5 Essentials + 1 in the category fostering employee development and life quality.

«The social dividend has been part of our company’s DNA for decades and Luces de Esperanza (Lights of Hope), which so far has benefited thousands of people in the states of  San Luis Potosí and Oaxaca, is a reflection of this,» said Enrique Alba, CEO of Iberdrola México, who also highlighted the importance of initiatives such as 5 Essentials + 1 to improve occupational health and safety for the company’s workforce and suppliers.

The award ceremony, held in Mexico City, was attended by figures from the business world, including the Chairman of the Business Coordinating Council (CCE), Francisco Cervantes; Antonio del Valle Perochena, Chairman of the Mexican Business Council (CMN).

In this edition, 104 companies and institutions took part, which registered 137 programs with social dimensions divided into two levels: Good Practice and Exceptional Practice.

Francisco X. Casanueva, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the  Instituto para el Fomento a la Calidad, stressed that «publicly» recognizing companies with the Exceptional Companies distinction «serves as an advance lever to motivate and empower other companies to become benchmarks in the creation of employee well-being, digital transformation, transparency, contribution to sustainable development, and the strengthening of value chains”.
