This scholarship is part of the Urological Brigades, an initiative launched in 2019 aimed at performing free surgeries for five years on over 360 low-income people in Oaxaca, mainly women, who suffer from complex urological problems.

Iberdrola México has joined efforts with the Miguel Litton Foundation, the Health Services of Oaxaca (SSO) and the Regional High Specialty Hospital of Oaxaca (HRAEO) to carry out this program, which includes lectures on urology and the award of six scholarships for the specialization of urologists in Spain.

In its first edition, carried out from November 23 to 28, 2019, eight surgeons specialized in urology led by Dr Miguel Litton performed 71 surgeries on 50 low-income people at the HRAEO. In 2020, this hospital was devoted to COVID-19 patients, which prevented the carrying out of the brigade program this year.

Besides this initiative, Iberdrola México has implemented other social projects supporting South and Southeast Mexico, including Luces de Esperanza (Lights of Hope), which brings solar energy to rural communities that do not have access to the electric grid, and Construir para Educar (Build to Educate), aimed at rebuilding 50 schools damaged by the 2017 earthquakes in Oaxaca and will benefit over 10,000 students.
