Nowadays the concepts of diversity, equality and inclusion are relevant and subject to debate in different sectors. But what does each of these concepts actually refer to?

The differences and similarities that exist between people, such as their race, ethnicity, gender, age, disabilities, sexual orientation, physical appearance, origin and religion, among other things.

Inclusion

This is a distinction that recognizes the importance of people’s diversity and dignity to participate in society on the basis of equal opportunities.

Equality

This is the recognition of people’s diversity in order to promote conditions of justice and equal opportunities, taking into account and/or recognizing the conditions that each characteristic (sex, gender, social class, religion, age, etc.) implies for the minorities they represent.

What are we doing to strengthen diversity and inclusion?

At Iberdrola México we are devising initiatives around issues such as sexual, generational, cultural and health diversity. We also recognize the value of including groups such as the LGBTIQ+ community in the workplace, prioritizing openness to the ideas of any person and anti-discrimination policies, bolstered through training on these matters.

Why are we interested in being a diverse and inclusive company?

Numerous studies have found that values such as diversity, equality and inclusion have a positive impact on business decision-making, giving rise to competitive advantages for business performance as they favor innovation and increase talent retention.

How are we going to achieve this?

With the support of partners who are experts on the subject and hand-in-hand with the Iberdrola People who have the chance to become a Partner. The message of respect and defending people who do not feel listened to will be promoted through them, thereby identifying and counteracting any situations of discrimination that arise.

Now that you know more about diversity, equality and inclusion, we hope our intention is clear and shared by you. We also hope you will decide to be part of this alliance and help us consolidate the culture of diversity and inclusion.
