In addition to being committed to the Mexican industry development, at Iberdrola México we seek to make a positive impact on the environment by opting for renewable energy.
At present we are placing the more than 730 thousand panels of the Cuyoaco solar plant in the state of Puebla, where our employees and contractors have taken the necessary measures to protect their health due to the COVID-19 health emergency.
This facility of over 703 hectares will be our third solar plant in the country with a 200 MW installed capacity, making it Iberdrola México’s largest power plant and the first with this technology in the region.
Cuyoaco’s annual power generation will be 551 GWh, in other words, equivalent to supplying more than 162,800 Mexican households, and with its operation 145,540 tons less of CO2 will be emitted into the atmosphere.
In line with Iberdrola México’s commitment to the communities where it has a presence, training workshops – focused on welding techniques, electricity and carpentry – will be provided to the local population with the purpose of contributing to the region’s economic development.
Furthermore, social works will be carried out for the benefit of local communities, such as building and remodeling public spaces and donating solar panels for water pumping, public lighting, and schools.
We started our operation in the state of Puebla five years ago with the PIER II wind park. Along with the Cuyoaco solar plant, we are currently building the second wind park in the La Esperanza community with a 220 MW capacity.
